A bunch of somewhat unorganized notes about things.

• Main city called Aranaenia.
• Would this system be a matriarchy?
• Something about venom being in their blood, different for each species.

Golden Orb Weaver
Very patient but very attentive, has very poor eyesight so he has to wear glasses, member of an old family that’s served the royal family as tailors for hundreds of years; known for his complex designs. Possibly barred from creating outfits for females due to being male?

The tradition of his family is to serve whatever family is the royal family so they’ve technically been in the palace longer than the ruling family. Due in part to shrewdness and durability?

Portia Spider
Super ingenious assassin; is a wild asshole. Basically wants to use the orb weaver’s connection to get to the royal family who he has a grudge against; the military is made up of jumping spiders, and the old king declared that they would invade the LEGION COUNTRY which resulted in the whole battalion being wiped out, and idk maybe Portia knew someone in there. ANYWYAS he just wants to oust the royal family really.

Only about 5’ tall (maybe shorter; jumpers are one of the smallest races in Aranaenia) incredibly smart, great jumper, and very quick. Not physically strong but his speed and ingenuity makes up for that. Occasionally uses an icepick type weapon and has an affinity for needles and other pointy things. Has a friendly disposition!

Kauai Cave Wolf Spider
The royal family. DO SOMETHING ABOUT BLINDNESS maybe bad vision is a sign of class? Anyways no one sees them they’re very exclusive. They have a sort of sixth sense to make up for the loss of sight that’s based on touch and vibrations.

Trapdoor Spider
Works as a professional hitman for political assassinations. Very good at hiding himself and setting traps. 5’6, Laid-back attitude. Doesn’t really do jobs unless he’s asked. for the most part likes doing his own thing. responsible, though.

Huntsman Spider
Rumored to be a cold blooded killer. Really a nice, shy guy. Friend of Trapdoor. He’s incredibly tall, probably a little over 7’ and lanky as hell. He’s a very skilled (uses a rapier) and quick killer, but he’d prefer to avoid confrontation and usually only fights as a last resort.

Legion | Theridion Nigroannulatum
THE LEGION. These guys are an autonomous nation that is neutral but are surrounded by superpowers so they’re highly aggressive to any transgression against them. Well-known for bright coloured hair? They’re small, probably a little under 5’ and attack in swarms.

Assassin Spiders
Whole faction, anti-royalist??? Incredibly deadly hunters, very clever, notorious for their practice of neck elongation with black rings. SOMEHOW AREN’T HAMPERED BY THEIR FREAKING COLLARBONES BEING SHOVED DOWN. They also like eating other people. Often kill by stabbing their victim with poisonous blades and holding them out at arms length until they die.

St. Andrew’s Cross
Distant cousin of the orb weaver, high rank as a priestess in the (matriarchal) major religion. Tasked with sermons and writing down the word. IDK.

Stegodyphus Lineatus
Leader of a cult; Runs a small commune and cooks her blood into all the food. Cult believes that the flesh of the matriarch (she’s the current acting one) is what gives people divine powers. Cult is mostly female, with the occasional servant-males for procreation.

Brazilian Wandering Spider
A moving peddler who sells weapons and supplies in wartime and medicine in peacetime. One of the few who has amnesty in Legion territory, and can even pass through Assassin territory mostly unharmed. His medicines are really potent, though, and people who aren’t experienced with properly diluting them often meet horrible ends. Is kind of hard to predict despite the fact that at first he comes off as mellow—he’s got kind of a snap-trigger temper. travels with all his possessions with him.

Selenocosmia Crassipes
A shy bard spider S/HE’S BIG THOUGH so it draws attention to him/herself. (idk if i wanna make it a dude spider or a boob spider)

Maratus Volans
A dancer who travels with the bard.

Goliath Birdeater
Very large, wears fancy fur coats. Tarantulas = High class immigrants?

Silver Argiope
Is somehow related to Orbs since he’s an orb weaver, but probably serves no purpose.
